Mumpreneurs offered one-to-one advice from business ‘superwomen’

The launch of a new mentoring scheme on 15 March will mean women who are juggling running their business with bringing up their family will be able to access one-to-one business advice from high-profile female entrepreneurs.

The Mentoring Mum scheme is backed by successful ‘mumpreneurs’ such as former Dragon’s Den investor Rachel Elnaugh and Laura Tenison, owner of children’s clothing retailer JoJo Maman Bebe. Along with Sally Preston, Antonia Chitty, Wendy Shard, Leila Wilcox, Mel McGee and Rachel Jones, they will offer half-hour advice sessions for £40.

Mentoring Mum was launched by Allison Price, founder of advice website and network MotivatingMum.co.uk. “More mothers than ever are setting up their own businesses. However, many of them lack knowledge or experience and face difficult challenges right from the start.

“This exciting new initiative will enable mums already in business – and those wanting to start up – to obtain affordable support and advice to help them achieve their dreams.”

Wendy Shard, founder of travel firm Tots to Travel, added: “I wanted to offer my services as a mentor because I’ve been down the path, and wept the tears of the new small-business owner. Now it’s my turn to share my experiences and help other women build their own successful businesses.”

Advice will be available on business law, tax, marketing and public relations. Female entrepreneurs seeking advice in any of these areas will be able to choose the most relevant expert and speak to them directly, by booking sessions online.
